The best time for whale watching is from July to October when Southern Right. Whales can be seen all along our coast. Dolphin Point. 6th Avenue and Flat Rock (Beach Hotel) in Wilderness and Herold's Bay provide great lookout points. |

Wilderness National Park / Garden Route Wilderness National Park is situated in the heart of the Garden Route, South Africa. It is a fascinating combination of rivers, lakes, estuaries and beaches, unfolding against the backdrop or lush forests and imposing mountains. During spring, the area is beautifully blanketed by a kaleidoscope of colourful blossoms, further enhancing its profound beauty. Visitors to Wilderness can spot five types of Kingfisher, the Grey Heron and Little Egret and the brightly coloured Knysna Loerie in the forest. This area is also known for the Knysna Seahorse and Pansy Shell. Wilderness is not only an area of natural beauty it is also an exciting playground for both young and old. Enjoy fantastic Dolphin and Whale sightings from Dolphin Point, hire a canoe or bicycle and explore the area, go abseiling, kloofing and paragliding, boating, fishing and hiking. Visitors can follow the many nature trails winding through the densely forested areas and along tranquil rivers, spend time at the bird hide or simply enjoy star gazing whilst camping alongside the river in this lush Garden Route Nature Reserve. - There are 2 rest camps and numerous camp sites for accommodation

Spectacular Horse riding trails through the indigenous forest in the new Garden Route National Park. Occasional sightings of the abundant wildlife in the area and home to the elusive Knysna Elefant ( droppings)that have been spotted in this area a few months ago at Berg Plaas.
The rides are structured to suite everyone and the trails are safe. The horses are well trained and kind to allow you to explore these majestic forests on horseback - giving you the freedom to fully enjoy and apprecviate natures treasures.We offer Horse Trail rides from 1 hr to 3 hrs or longer on request.
The trails are all supervised by very experienced guides. We speak English, German and Russian.
Elbrus Ourtaev, the proprietor of Wilderness Adventures has worked as a stuntman in many international films, specialzing in horse stunt riding. As a starter to wet your appetite you may get to see Elbrus in action, as he trains and works with our stunt horses or ask to see the promotional video on the stunt horses and riders! |

Welcome to the Garden Route Botanical Garden. - The Garden Route Botanical Gardens is open to the public seven days a week. The public are allowed access to the gardens from sunrise to sunset. Access to the gardens is free of charge.
Guided Walks: THE GRBG has a history stretching back two hundred years; the original water furrows and storage dams that first fed the town of George still exist in the gardens. Short Guided walks are offered on a booking basis only. Experienced guides will walk you through the history and ecology of the gardens, focusing on the myriad of plants and birds found in the area. Walks are approximately 30 minutes long and are charged at about R 20.00\p erson minimum group size of 5.
Moms & Tots Fairy Tea Garden: In December 2008 the Moms & Tots faerie tea garden was officially opened. The tea garden is situated in a lovely tranquil setting under a large fig tree behind the Moriarty environmental centre. The area is secure and safe for young children and has amongst other things a faerie garden, a veggie garden and a rustic jungle gym for children to play on.
