Garden Route Botanical Gardens Print E-mail

 

Welcome to the Garden Route Botanical Garden.

 

  • The Garden Route Botanical Garden is located in George, the heart of the Garden Route and has become a conservation and environmental education hub for the Southern Cape of South Africa.

 

 

  • The Garden Route Botanical Gardens is open to the public seven days a week. The public are allowed access to the gardens from sunrise to sunset. Access to the gardens is free of charge.

 

 

Guided Walks:

 

  • THE GRBG has a history stretching back two hundred years; the original water furrows and storage dams that first fed the town of George still exist in the gardens. Short Guided walks are offered on a booking basis only. Experienced guides will walk you through the history and ecology of the gardens, focusing on the myriad of plants and birds found in the area. Walks are approximately 30 minutes long and are charged at  about R 20.00\p erson minimum group size of 5.

Moms & Tots Fairy Tea Garden:

 

  • In December 2008 the Moms & Tots faerie tea garden was officially opened. The tea garden is situated in a lovely tranquil setting under a large fig tree behind the Moriarty environmental centre. The area is secure and safe for young children and has amongst other things a faerie garden, a veggie garden and a rustic jungle gym for children to play on.
